I work with side by side Cinema 22, and Studio 17 monitors. They offer very
similar but not identical characteristics. The spectral graph of the two is
identical except for one spike which is clipped much shorter on one display
than the other. So the dyes must have been altered somehow. Gamut is
indistinguishably similar to the eye. Brightness is not the same (though it
can be adjusted to match), a function of the bulb configuration of the
differing displays. When dealing with the extreme RGB values used in RGB
profiling targets, I find that there are a lot of areas where adjacent
patches of similar values are indistinguishable from one another, more so,
from memory, than I found on CRT displays.
