Thanks David!
Perhaps you wouldn't mind offering some further advice.
I'm looking at buying a new monitor in the next couple of weeks, to go with
one of the new Dual G4s. I have the opportunity of buying an essentially
brand new PressView 21, with the calibrator (stock clearance) for about the
same money as a 17" Studio display. I'm sorely tempted by the PressView (I
know how much these cost when Radius were still around) but I really don't
know how an Apple 17" studio display would compare. The PressView is a
monster (43kilos) and it's ADB....and old technology etc. Have 'mere mortal'
monitors caught up this much? Is it worth buying at this price? (Only 3
months guarantee with it too)
I love the look of the Apple monitors, and I was very impressed by an ACD
which I had on loan from Apple for about a week last year....but I'm nervous
about relying on an LCD for important work. I don't need colour
critical....but I do need to be in the ballpark, especially when images are
viewed on several monitors. Can I count on the image looking 'pretty damn
close' on a calibrated CRT and a calibrated 17" Studio display?
(I'm a pro photographer, working mostly in still-life advertising. I only
work in RGB (I leave 4 colour to those that know it!))
I'd appreciate your thoughts.....throw-away or whatever! <S>
Thanks for the help,
Grant (Paris)
