Just for the record, here are the definitions of metamers and
metamerism from the CIE/IEC International Lighting
Vocabulary, supplied to me by Michael Stokes.
metamers -- Spectrally different colour stimuli that have the same
tristimulus values.
Metamerism -- the corresponding property is called metamerism.
As I read it, that definition would definitely cover a match between
a monitor and a print. Viewing two print samples under the same light
source and having them match, then having them not match under a
different light source, is certainly one example of metamerism, but
not the only one.
