Or possibly there is another way of getting good proofs. hmmm
Jamie;
There are four V2 profiles in Photoshop 6. Two are SWOP web V2 which are
suited to high speed rotary (web) press conditions coated and uncoated. The
others are for Sheetfed coated and uncoated. Make sure you use the correct
profile for the destination press.
The BlueEye should be good for this set up. Press ready gives an adequate
output at least generating something close to a better quality press
simulation. I definitely say use it for the guarantee that you've got
something that simulates a press. You can change the press simulation from
the old included profiles to your conversion profile (the US SWOP V2) in the
Adobe Print colour control panel. If you find the results pale try to load
in the Adobe CMYK profile that is in the System folder>application
support>Adobe... It is actually a space profile but offers you an extended
gamut if that's what you prefer.
Personally one of the few viable other solutions is BestColor Designer
Edition if your on a Mac. Costs more but does more. Recommended if you are
responsible for the colour separations.
