Hi, I am new to colorsync and I had my first problem yesterday. First of all,
let me say that I have no idea if I have everything set up correctly. I
profiled my Microtek Scanmaker 4 with Monaco easy color and the IT8 target
that came with the scanner. I profiled my monitor using the visual side of
ColorBlind Prove it! I know a visually generated monitor profile is not the
best but I don't have access to an instrument right now. I figured it would be
better than nothing.
I scanned a image using SilverFast with all the colormatching turned off and
the RGB space set to the same as my Photoshop setting, AdobeRGB. I used
profile to profile to change the scan from the scanner's colorspace to
AdobeRGB. I used the scanner profile I created with Monaco as the source and
RGB as the destination. I found a good deal of posterization with one of the
scans I converted. Why would that be?
After some adjustments, I used profile to profile again to convert the scan
from AdobeRGB to Euroscale coated CMYK. Is that the correct procedure to
convert my scans to CMYK for European press on coated paper?
Finally, if anyone has experience with SilverFast scanning software I would
appreciate an email as the manual is pretty cryptic and I really don't
understand how to set up the colorsync options. Silverfast tech support has
been less than helpfull being more concerned with getting a copy of my
purchase invoice. I have no idea what my predecessor did with it. apparently
my serial number and registration is not enough for them. Talk about paranoid!
My email is email@hidden.
