I have never understood the benefits of a camera profile. Because yes, all
your arguments are right. Even more: if you make a packshot you will capture
different sides of the same object. You're shooting 3-d, right? Even if by
miracle you're able to control all the variables, you will still have
profiled only one side of the object.
I said it before and will say it again: real-life colours cannot be regarded
the same as scanned colours on a surface. 3-d life doesn't fit into 2-d
theory.
I'd say make your shots and correct them on (kalibrated) screen. One at a
time.
