Looking at
the ColorSync extension in Resourcer, it shows two 'vers' resources just as
in other languages. But one returns 3.0.3; the other returns 1.0.
If you mean to say it's illogical, then that's not the case. And I
don't think you need to fix ColorSync, but maybe your version checker
... -:).
The ICC format for the exchange of accurate color information across
applications (and across operating system platforms) grew out of the
ColorSync component in QuickDraw GX that was part of OS 7.5.
ColorSync 1.0 is the Apple-only format for first generation profiles.
Robin Myers can tell you more about that format.
ColorSync 2.0 is the common format shared by Apple and other members
of the International Color Consortium. As far as I recall, 1.0
profiles are supported in 2.0 but not vice versa.
I'm kind of wondering if that decision has taken on a new color,
though. We'll have to wait and see what happens on the OS level
within OS X.
