I am running our Eversmart Supreme with Oxygen Scan 1.0.1. I
recommend you update to this software. I also recommend you read Don
Hutcheson's RGB Scanning for Color Management which is available on
his web site. (thanks Don) Briefly, select the lut ICC device link,
set white and black density values to 1.0 and 3.77. Do Not gray
balance or use the eye droppers to select white and black points,
just type in the values. Select no sharpening, default gradation.
Scan the Q-60 with these settings aiming for about 1000 pix in the
long dimension (300dpi works well). I also tried out Don's "infinite
black" technique with good results. Open the file in Photoshop (leave
untagged) touch up any dust and crop it. (I crop in Photoshop as it's
easier than doing it in Profilemaker) If you want to try adjusting
the black value with levels, do so now. Open in your profile making
software, I use ProfileMaker Pro. make the profile. Open the untagged
Q-60 and assign and concert to your working space of choice to
evaluate. Now when you scan use the "profiles" workflow. Select the
profile you just made for "input" select your working space for
"output". This workflow will convert the file to you working space.
If you want to assign the scanner profile but not convert, select
"none" for output. You will find that you still have to tweek the
white and black density values (unless your transparencies are all
the same) I made several different profiles by editing the original
profile in Profile Editor. I now have ready made starting points for
different originals. I find the preview quite accurate. When you
check "with ICC profile" in tiff set up it stays selected. You do not
have to do this for every scan.
