The main setback to always using the UV filter with the Spectrolino is that
the measurements take longer. Other than that, I, at least, haven't had
problems. When in doubt regarding if the paper contains whiteners, I put it
on, but as we almost always recommend and use papers without whiteners, the
UV filter sits in the case.
