CIECAM97s is a color appearance model which is capable of calculating not
only relative color attributes ( saturation, chroma, Lightness) but also
absolute color color attributes ( colorfullness, brightness ).
CIECAM97s takes the influence of Background and surround on color
appearance, the contrast of an image dipendens upon the Lightness of the
Background and the surround. the degree of adaption depends also on the
lightness of the Surround. viewing an image in a dark surround ( like when
in the cinema ) is different from viewing an image in an light surround.
with CIECAM97s we could transform an image for different viewing
conditions.
CIECAM97s is capable of calculating the chromatic adaptation more accuratly
than CIELab or CIELuv. for an example, a profile is created for a white
point of D50, but the printer evaluates a printed sheed under an
illumination of D65. with CIECAM97s we could transform an image from D50 to
D65.
the limitations of CIECAM97s are it's complexitiy. more input data is
needed. not only the relative tristimulus values XYZ of the image but also
luminance of the adapting field in the source conditions, the tristimulus
values XYZ of the sourrce white in the source conditions, the relative
luminance of the background in the source conditions.
