Hate to reply to my own post... but in reading this, it was obvious that the
above statement was not clear. ProfilerPRO black curves were chosen to best
match the canned RGB driver prints for the printers popular at the time...
since getting prints "that looked like the RGB driver's" was the common goal.
Things have changed, and different RIPs use different screening, and many are
used for other purposes than simply matching the RGB driver, so adjusting the
black curve may well be appropriate. I generally start with Light instead of
Medium, and work from there in the direction of making it even lighter, if
necessary.
