I have thought about this a couple of times but never
really finished.
When I use precal to calibrate the monitor to a certain
colortemperature I would think that I am not allowed
to touch the brightness/contrast controls on the crt anymore.
Instead .. due to the luminance settings I do have to make
changes while preparing to profile in the main application.
The software asks me to make adjustments to brightness
and contrast and I guess those changes also have
influence on the colortemperature.
Whats the sense ?
Wouldn't it be best to nail brightness, contrast and colortemperature
in the precal to then just do the profiling on top ?
I am very satisfied with the softproofs I get with the optical profiles but
I still find this approach a bit confusing.
Anyone ?
