I have made good RGB profiles of my Epson 5000 using Color Savvy
software. I set the driver for "no color adjustment" and print my
targets. First a linearization target, and then color targets with
linearization curves applied.
I then use the profiles by applying them in Photoshop or selecting
them in the driver in the ColorSync mode. Either way works.
The resultant profile works well, except, it seems, for images that
are mostly dark tones.
There is no question that the "no color adjustment mode" prints very
dark, and that the linearization map must lighten everything a lot.
Also, the linearization map has a very steep portion starting from zero.
I suspect it is the extreme linearization curve that is causing the
problems. When working with comparatively linear devices (a LightJet
for example), I have no such problems.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks in advance.
