In other words, changing an ink has plusses and minuses. A red ink will
allow you to hit more reds and oranges, but all that extra yellow
(red=magenta+yellow) will limit your ability to create saturated
purples/violets. As Bruce has indicated above, the end result may be a
smaller gamut. However, it makes sense to do this if that smaller gamut is
still wide enough to deliver the quality you need for your images and allows
you to get to the critical colors that were impossible to make with standard
inks.
