Hi All,
Once again I was very disappointed by the press simulation proof that a
printer handed to me. On the question: if they were, maybe, dropping any
incorporated profiles when opening the files, he was not able to answer.
So I kindly asked him if I could have a look at his computer settings,
and sure enough, he was using Photoshop 5 without color management. When
I called the action "Profile to profile conversion", the file identified
as CMYK file, and not "Eurostandard coated" as it was tagged.
For this job, I have scanned from my scanner profile into Best RGB and
worked into that space, then converted the final image into
*Eurostandard Coated 9%, UCR, 330%*, as indicated by the printer. But
when the printer opened the file, the values that showed on his screen
were not what I had on my screen because he does not use ColorSync
profiles color management.
I am now on a short deadline and I would really appreciate any help as
to what the proper way of converting ColorSync files into *generic,
untagged CMYK* files is. I just tried converting from Eurostandard into
Generic CMYK, but then the image looses it's colours and falls on the
gray side. What should I do?
Thanks in advance!
Paul Schilliger
