Tony,
Glad you found out what an instruction manual is! They are quite useful
sometimes.
Not sure what your problem is, but if I relate my experiences, you might see
something of help.
I've used my Spyders on two CRTs and two LCDs. My latest CRT is a Mitubishi
21" DiamondPro and I run Precal to set the guns manually to the levels that
Optical wants and have no problem in reaching 95 luminance; nor did I on my
older Nokia 19". Both profiled OK with an older non-LCD spyder and with a
new crt/lcd spyder (when the correct inserts are used!!!).
My two LCD's are very different. One is an LG 15" cheapo (for PS palettes)
and that has color controls like the CRTs, so I could probably use Precal on
it before profiling (but haven't tried). However, the main LCD is my new
Formac Gallery 20" and that (like the Apple Studios) does not have color
controls, so you cannot use Precal to set the colors. I also can easily
blind myself with 250 or more luminance. You don't need to achieve 200; you
can simply set it at whatever luminance suits your eyes and viewing
conditions (200 is great in daylight, but a bit bright in the dark).
David Tobie is the man to ask about this if you can't get help from
Colorvision.
Bob Frost.
PS Maybe your Spyder simply objects to being spat on, or having its poor
little legs bent and its feet torn off.

This is interesting. Now that I HAVE read the PhotoCal manual, that's

On BigSony, the opposite was true. When I had hit the numbers

I READ THE MANUAL! Now what am I doing wrong?
