The LaCIEs are Mitsubishi tubes (if I am not mistaken). I've always gotten
very satisfactory results and behavior of all the Mitsus I've used and
recommended. But, yes, the Sequel DDC cable (excuse me Tom Lianza for not
remembering the exact standard cabling name?) sure is the way to go -- just
like on the SONY's Artisan -- to makes things safe (almost idiot-poof),
predictable and reapeatable.
Personnally, I like the Mitsu DP-2060U 21" a lot, which comes bundled with
that new, round, superfast Sequel sensor and DDC cable. But, of course, if I
had the money and if SONY cared to distribute their Artisan in Canada, I
know which present I'd indulge myslef in for Xmas ...
