He did not attach a profile to the resulting 47 meg files (all 200 of

them) so what's the best way for me to proceed
Hmmm...I would go about it this way:
Find out what his color management settings were in his software...and pray
that he turned it on! What probably happened here is the images were
processed from scanner/camera RGB into a chosen RGB working space, which
didn't get embedded by the software. There are two choices in the Phase
software with regard to what the software does with the camera profile
(actually there are three choices, the third being just previewing the
changes...not really useful IMO). The camera profile gets applied to the
data or the profile gets tagged onto the file requiring a conversion
further down the pipe (like in Photoshop). Just ask him what he did. If
that doesn't work out or he's a bonehead and turned color management off,
start assigning profiles in Photoshop until you arrive in a "pleasing"
space...one that looks "right" to you (ColorMatch, Adobe RGB, Apple RGB,
etc). I know this isn't the most scientific approach, but for lack of
anything specific it can get you to where you want to be.
Good luck!
