If I remember correctly, the fiery rip does not recognize embedded profiles. I think that it expects images to be in sRGB or a similarly small gamut color space. An image in Adobe RGB will print flat and unsaturated in this type of situation. In your case, I would recommend converting the image from Adobe RGB to sRGB and I think that your client will be much happier.
