The 2500CP is a four ink printer with an embedded Adobe PostScript 3
RIP.
To profile the printer / print mode / ink set / paper, use Enhanced
Native mode which applies 240% cut-off for glossy and 210% cut-off for
coated ink papers when printing PostScript jobs. Remember that you need
to tell the printer which paper type is loaded.
When you print an IT8.7-2 or ECI2002, patches are well differentiated
all the way into the shadows. Let the characterization chart dry, load
the characterization measurements into your print profiling software,
set the ink limit to 400%, and choose black start, gamut mapping,
grayscale behaviours.
If you set the PostScript 3 interpreter to Native only, there is no ink
limiting. Because this is only a four ink printer, you will probably be
alright on most papers. On six ink printers, there is no true native
mode as overinking would result. However it is better to limit ink in
the interpreter using Enhanced Native and let the ICC profile handle
color matching than print maximum ink and let the ICC profile handle
both color matching and ink limiting.
Load your inkjet profile into Library > Application Support > Adobe >
Color > Profiles and you are ready to print from Photoshop, InDesign
and Illustrator. For a printer that supports Rendevous you need the
5500 as demoed at Seybold SF a few months ago.
