(Notes: I own a DTP41 and have access to a Spectrolino.
I'd not use the DTP41 as is because the built-in white backing cuts
1.5 to 2 steps off the L* channel in the white point. It's not a new
observation, it was in the old ICC ABC Calibrating.
There's a replacement white backing for the DTP41, or just use the
Spectrolino with a sheet or two of the same paper under the sheet
with the test chart printed on it.
If you plan on using a spectro to check the proof to press match,
then you have to use black backing (there's an old thread that ran as
'Black or white in color', it crops up once in a while).
The originals are all large format with appropriate
color correction and a wide-gamut color space.
This is where 'the proof of the pudding is in the eating' comes into
the picture. There are differences in the gamut mapping offered by
different profiling applications, and the gamut mapping is not static
but gets continuously improved with each new release.
