Hello Bruce,
One raison that this two RGB spaces are really different is because they are
the same White point.
The sRGB' primaries don't give a D65 WP but a custom WP and the aRGB give an
other custom WP.
For this two spaces, the D65 WP is a "Virtuel Corrected" WP.
That means the distance between the Green primary point and the D65 point in
the aRGB space is too far from the riality and this space give a distortion to
the magenta color (opposite of green).
For this raison you can see the encrease of the magenta color and a change on
the red and blue channels.
One of the conclusions of this problem is : If you want to use a virtual RGB
space with the D65 WP, the Adobe RGB is a very bad choice
