If you have ProfileMaker Pro, you import the profile and then just
regenerate using new Black Generation parameters. Very cool.

I noticed that this works with almost every profile, no matter which
testchart and how many patches were used to create the profile. It's
possible, for instance, to select reference data IT8/7.3 and import a
profile created by PrintOpen based on 210 measured patches or a colorblind
profile based on 1440 patches, and then a new profile can be created. Any
other combination works too. Therefore it does not matter how many patches
are involved, but what information is used to create the new profile?
I had tried this before and I was wondering as to the validity of modifying
a profile in this way. I hadn't tested the results . Sure would love to hear
the success stories of others on this.
when you import a profile, ProfileMaker converts the target you
selcted to Lab, abscol, through the imported profile, and uses that
as the reference to build a new one.
It works surprisingly well, though not as well as building a new
profile from actual measurements in PMPro4. I've had results ranging
from okay to surprisingly good. No disasters. I haven't done any
serious comparisons as to whether one target works better than
others, or whether it works better with profiles from one third-party
source than others. But it does work...
