Peter,
What you describe as fringing may actually be bleeding of the
ink.
One thing has been reported by almost all the Epson 1200 users;
the printer lays down more ink than any of the models launched at
that time and after. To get it alright one needs a paper setting
that gives less ink and a propper custom profile. The best would
be a RIP that can linearize the printer before profile making.
But I doubt they exist with that option for the 1200. The Epson
1270 etc range is a better printer if used with the Epson driver.
