Getting neutral output from a 2000P (let alone any of the Epson printers) is
somewhat of an exercise in futility. The pigmented inks and their severe
metamerism (mainly the yellow ink) is a real issue. Doesn't matter what
method you use to print or if you have a really good ICC profile or not.
Even with standard inks, it's very difficult to get a totally neutral print
with 4-6 colors. I have found that the 5500 and 10000 Epson's make a pretty
good looking print with just the black ink (you get neutral output) and
since the newer printers have a variable sized dot, using just one ink
doesn't look too bad at all unlike the older printers. I'd still like to see
Epson come out with quad or 6 black ink sets.
You could try using just the black ink (send grayscale data to the printer)
but you'll lose a good deal of the contone look.
