If the application does not support ICC color, then the monitor space is the space of the files - assuming they liked what they saw on the monitor.
Build a good profile of the monitor using a colorimeter. Then assign the profile to the file (in Photoshop) or set it as the source profile for the file (many other apps) and you are set...
