Yes Dennis, this is actually printing using color conversions through
spectral data rather than tristimulus. It could possibly help in colors
where the crossover points of tristimulus data lead to discrepancies
compared to the spectral data that ensures fluid transitions (pastels, skin
tones etc.)
Now , as to if it really does work that much better we'll have to get back
to testing. The Aurelon RIP for desktop inkjets did indeed produce beautiful
results. You'll probably see future hard/software packages offering spectral
data options for dealing with color profiling (fingerprints) soon.
