About a year ago, I built a profile using Profiler RGB for a certain type of matte paper for a CD Label, using Photoshop 6.1 on Mac 8.6. Recently that profile has been causing Photoshop and Indesign 1.52 (for a different file) to freeze. I went through a lot of hassle looking for extension conflicts, blaming USB printer sharing, giving a lot of RAM to all applications, control panels, and extensions involved, not suspecting that the problem could be the profile which, most of the time, worked in the past. TechTool Pro found nothing wrong with the profile, but as soon as I tried to print the files with a different profile that I also had made, everything was fine, I could print. Is there a utility to check/repair that profile, or do I have to start all over. I remember, it took quite a few sheets of paper to get the one I liked. Two things that had changed since building the profile was switching to 9.1 and then, a new computer, running OS 9.2.2. May that have caused this issue, even though that other profile, built about the same time, still works fine? Thanks.
Hi Nick,
There are several possibilities here.
First, I would run Apple's Profile First Aid - it does a lot of checks and might find/fix a problem.
Our ColorThink software picks up where the Apple tool leaves off and performs some more checks so you might consider it for this type of problem in the future.
Feel free to send me the profile and I'll take a look. Sometimes the structure of the profile can affect the machine. I would consider that a bug as a data file should never have the ability to crash an app but life is full of bugs and the trick is knowing which ones to stomp out (or even test for).
Regards,
Steve
