Well, the size difference is huge too... I have both, side by side, and they
are visually similar, with a few small differences. A spectrophotometer will
show nearly identical dyes, with one small bump on the 22 that is truncated
on the 17; no effective difference in color. The 17 is brighter... but can
easily be choked back to match the 22 (they both need to be choked back for
most uses anyway). The 17 is visibly polarized (with a polarization filter,
or polarized sunglasses), while the 22 is not. This may have to do with speci
al "fresnel" type technologies that allow the entire width of the 22 to
appear the same color when viewed from a location where you are actually
seeing the two edges at significantly different angles. The resolution on the
22 is higher than the 17, meaning more pixels are displayed per inch.
