We have a Xerox Phaser 7700 which we profile with our
SpectroLino/SpectroScanT + ProfileMaker 3.15.
When creating the profile from the data collected by MeasureTool, there are
several options on how to process the data... the default setting for Laser
Printer uses MaxK. The consultant who set it up originally, on the other
hand, used GCR with the grey ramp (at bottom) starting at 65 (I'm at home so
I don't have the profile handy for reference). I don't know what the
reasoning for this choice of settings happens to be.
With the profiles he created, we were getting good (but not excellent)
matches to our Epson 5500 + BestColorRIP and proofs from our vendors. But in
the past month the printer has drifted somewhat as we've hammered the
printer fast and furious, so now it's time to profile again.
Is there any particular setting in ProfileMaker that would represent a good
starting point for the 7700? Should I just accept the defaults and get on
with life?
Thanks,
IE
