OmniGroup wrote a cache routine in order to cache the post-processed
images in order to deal with the performance hit, because apparently
every time you would scroll through a web page and the images disappeared
and then reappeared they would end up needing a conversion. That's how it
was explained to me. Now is this some OS X thing? I don't know, I'm not a
programmer. But a couple of those who have been doing some of this stuff
have been saying there is a noticable performance penalty. Of course, my
sample size is rather small so maybe that's it. At least in IE 5.2 I
don't notice any difference in rendering while casually surfing around
with the ColorSync option on or off. With OmniWeb I can't turn it off as
it's always on.
