Any of the 19 inchers from these companies seem to be fine...
Any others worth considering?
You've got a pretty good list right there...

Is the Spyder/Optical still the value leader for monitor calibration?
For price/performance it seems to be holding the lead, especially if you have
any interest in calibrating LCDs...

does it compare to the EyeOne suite?
It offers more controls and more sophisticated capabilities than the EyeOne
software, but if you are just building a straight profile at standard
settings, both do the job... with the little differences like the more open
shadows that OptiCAL gives; though you have the controls with OptiCAL to do
whatever you want; even create a custom target with more closed shadows, to
more exactly match the profiles the EyeOne software builds. PhotoCAL with the
Spyder would be more equivalent to the EyeOne feature set, at a lower price
than OptiCAL or the EyeOne choices.

What also is being recommended for reasonably priced printer profiling?
Monaco EZ-Color and ColorVision ProfilerPLUS are the two current packages for
scanner based printer profiling, but frankly, I would recommend anyone
serious about printer profiling try to edge there way up to Monaco Proof, or
ColorVision ProfilerPRO instead. Or there is the EyeOne bundle, but I don't
really recommend that unless you move even further upstream and get it with
ProfileMaker Pro, instead of the EyeOne Match software.
If you are getting both, then the ColorVision bundles of ProfilerPLUS or
ProfilerPRO with either PhotoCAL or OptiCAL and a Spyder would be the lowest
priced solutions, if they suit your needs and taste.
