Hello Folks,
Thought this might be of interest to list members:
I have gotten good use out of a Linocolor Saphir Ultra II. Now that I'm
trying to use OS X more, I have been trying to find out if this scanner
will
be supported. Comments about 16-bit lab support in Newcolor have been
tantalizing, too.
But signs have not looked good: the former Linocolor web site, with
software
updates, etc. is gone. Instead at <http://www.aixtema.de/hd>, there is
only
general Heidelberg marketing/PR/contact info, and no mention of
software.
I have had a few email contacts this year, at first they said something
would be forthcoming in March. Finally I tried again this week, and
asked
explicitly if they have abandoned the desktop scanner market. Here is an
excerpt from their response:
We have been using Silverfast on our Ultra with good results. Not
sure if OS X version exists. I think they have been moving towards OS
X on some scanners. Hopefully, the Ultra will be one of them.
