I haven't done any spectro comparisons between one or two day air-dried
and press-dried, but I'm guessing that there won't be any. I used to pin
prints on my wall and full-blast a big Vornado fan at them from a few
feet away, but this seems to be a bit less violent.
I had my press set at about 180, but you could scale that down to
whatever you wanted. I just used a couple of sheets of 4-ply acid-free
rag board - you know, all those centers that are left over after you've
cut hundreds of mats.
The board absorbs the moisture that comes of the print when it's in the
press, but the rest of the drying happens when you take the print out,
place it on an open rack, and the warm paper just lets it all go. If
you're doing several in a row, give the mat a minute outside the press as
well to steam itself off, and then flip the board so that the previously
moist inside is now on the outside and against the platen. ...or you can
just grab a pair of fresh mat centers from the pile that's been
collecting over the years.
