Max Black setting or use UCR. I am on the right path?
You're really already getting the "maximum black" if you're using the
"Inkjet 400" setting which by default gives you a 100%K limit. Using the
"Max Black" setting will only serve to reduce the CMY component with no
increase in K density. "Max Black" is really more like a maximum GCR
setting.
My advice? Create your own base linearization on the BestRIP to give
yourself the maximum density (with minimum ink) you can get. If you're
getting a black density less than about 1.6-1.7, I'd try a different paper.
Best papers 7180 and 8180 should give you good results with pigment inks
(forget 9150/9180 - I just spent several days fighting with that paper on an
Epson 5500 with poor results).
Good luck.
