We are having trouble profiling a LaCie 19III monitor. The display does not
represent the color values accurately - this is most obvious when the
monitor displays a gray ramp (we've used the white balance file from Hutch
Color as well as one of our own.) The most peculiar thing is that each
individual stripe of (allegedly) neutral gray is different from it's
neighbor by a striking degree. For example, the 72,72,72 stripe looks green,
the 73,73,73 stripe looks blue, the 74,74,74 looks red, then the next three
stripes look perfectly neutral. More than half the stripes look off in some
way or another. There is no discernable pattern in the color, nor is it
more prominent any part of the ramp.
The monitor is 10 days old, and LaCie has told me that there isn't anything
wrong with it. Is there any other way to test the monitor for color
accuracy?
The Chroma 4 calibration puck is new this morning, replaced by Sequel after
ours failed. We have calibrated and profiled with both the LaCie software
and Colorblind's ProveIt. (Prove It allows for some adjustment of the
curves, but not to the individual number degree that the white balance file
shows is off.)
The white balance file does not display these "striping" properties on our
other computers (iMacs for office work), they have not been calibrated or
profiled. Could the profile created by both applications be off? (We've
also tried trashing the preferences and removing old monitor profiles from
the system.)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We've received a lot of great
information off this list, and hope that someday we'd be able to provide
some.
Thanks,
David
