Hi colorsync-users,
Since November 2001 I9ve a Linoscan 1400 with Linocolor Elite software.
Since that date I9ll tried to get answer on some questions from
Heidelberger. The last thing I9ve heart in February from the Desktopscanner
Support European Service Center is we forwarded your problem to our second
level and they will contact you9.
Hopefully you9ve some answers on the next questions:
Hardware: Heidelberg Linoscan 1400; LaCie Electron22blue with a Blue Eye
calibrator.
Software: Linocolor Elite 6.0.9; Adobe Photoshop 6.0.1; Mac OS 9.1;
ColorSync 3.0.3.
1. Weakly and gray softproof for uncoated paper
I9ve tried to produce scans for uncoated paper (offset euro) and for
Printing Newspapers in Linocolor Elite 6.0.9. This particular fills look
always very weakly and gray. There are no profiles for uncoated paper
included by Linocolor Elite 6.0.9. The profiles I used where from Fogra
(Fogra uncoated pos) and Adobe (Euroscale Uncoated). Pleas tell me how to
make good full-color and grayscale scans for uncoated paper and for
Newspapers.
2. Dot gain information ICC profiles Linocolor Elite
Can you tell me how many dot gain is compensated in the profiles included by
Linocolor Elite for CMYK (Offset Euro ICC Profiles9, Offset SWOPP
Profiles9, ICC Profiles for Printing Newspapers9 and ICC Profiles
corresponding to ISO 12647-2 for Printing Newspapers9) and Grayscale
(General Scan Profiles).
3. Posterizatrion CMYK files Linocolor Elite
When I corrected the dot size limit (CMYK correction - Dot Size Limit -
Maximum Dot 95% Minimum Dot and Cat light 5%) in Linocolor and saved the
fill as Tiff CMYK (profile input and output Offset Euro pos U360 K85) the
fill end up always with a little bit posterizatrion. When I9ll corrected the
same fill in Adobe PhotoShop it doesn9t happen. How is this possible, the
Linocolor file is a 16 bit channel file and the PhotoShop file is a 8 bit
channel file?
Also very strange in the Linocolor fill is that after the CMYK correction
their is still information at 0% (highlights).
Al suggestions are welcome,
best regards,
Maarten van der Spek,
The Graphic Room.
