We use Mimaki JV4 Printers at our office. As rips we use wasatch/onyx
software. Meanwhile we recognized that both rips create it`s own cmyk/rgb to
cmykOG translation before they use the profiles. Wasatch does even a
integerated inkreduction! Since i recognized this, i believe i can build my
ICC Profiles with usual CMYK profiling software. We use printopen for
instance.
But we get allways in trouble with orange&green.
If we use the orange&green drivers we get prints which loock terrible. The
results have color seems like the would be oversharped. And often we get
posterized shadows in darker skin tones.
We get all this effects even before we make a profile! (Afterwards also!)
Especially in wasatch the linearisation curves look crazy and the results
are terribly bad before we do a profile. Even printouts without
linearisation, only with profiles look better than linearized prints.
Is there anybody outthere who got acceptable results with this combination
of rip & printer???
The wasatch support gives no more answers via e-mail and the onyx support
isn`t really helpful.
Thanks
