Hello Mr. Fallnhauser,
the reason for the poor simulation of spot colors is that the cmyk values
you are referring to are proposed values for _Offset_ simulation.
What you need are cmyk values for your IRIS.
In order to get these you need either the respective lab values of your spot
color or as in your example the Pantone swatch number. To figure out the
IRIS cmyk values you may do as described below.
- download freeware i1 share from
http://www.i1color.com/
- select "t" in the upper left corner of the application window
- select your IRIS profile
- choose the Pantone color at the bottom
- take the cmyk values displayed in the upper right corner
- replace the cmyk values of your spot color in all applications you
- these values will provide a much closer simulation
A much more convenient way is to change your RIP/color system and replace it
by one supporting spot color libraries. Using these libraries spot color
simulation will be using the correct cmyk values for your IRIS automatically
(systems - not all supporting your Iris2print are i.e. Heidelberg dimension,
Best color proof or GMG provide this functionality).
good luck;
Florian

They all looked almost the same on the Iris print - to bright.

So is there anybody who can tell me why the printer simulation with pictures
