To all the RIP specialists,
I have been asked to build a custom CMYK ICC profile for the HP5000 running
the Posterjet RIP (Version 6).
As I am unfamiliar with the workings of this RIP I thought that someone
might be able to offer some assistance in regard to whether it is a RIP that
is ICC savvy and will allow that printing of raw data after the linerization
process has been performed?
From the Posterjet website I downloaded a pdf called 'HP_5000_settings'
which suggested the following RIP setup settings:
Start Printing=Optimised
Color Calibration=ON
Black replacement=OFF
Enhanced Rez=ON
In addition the Colour Calibration controls referred to in the Printer
Setup Menu=Auto. I am always cautious of 'Auto' options in software as
they usually imply that decisions are being made for the user, behind the
scenes. Could someone please confirm if there is another approach that I
can take?
Or is there a way of setting the calibration process to 'Manual'or is
there another work around that could be suggested?
I would appreciate feedback from anyone familiar with this RIP.
Thanks in advance
Richard
