I profiled a Dell XP machine with OptiCAL over the weekend and encountered
two gllitches you will want to watch for. First was that installing the
software did not install the USB Spyder driver automatically, but as soon as
I plugged the Spyder in, it triggered the new hardware install routine, and
by aiming it at the OptiCAL CD the drivers installed just fine. The second
issue was that after I had calibrated and profiled with OptiCAL, when I
checked the monitor profile in Photoshop it was still sRGB. So I went into
the monitor properties (by right clicking on the desktop, and going to
properties, advanced, color management etc) and associated the OptiCAL
profile, and set it as the default. Then Photoshop showed the correct monitor
profile.
Further XP compatibility fixes should be forthcoming.
