They also say you can order a new Scanmate scanner from them
Just thought I'd chip in with some ColorQuartet and Scanmate information.
The good news is that you can still get Scanmate flatbed scanners from
Purup. The bad news is that they have killed off the PMT scanners completely
-- like many other manufacturers.
We had another 11000 on order but the unit failed to materialize and we were
given the bad news that they will not manufacture them any more.
Even though I love my F10 flatbed I'm disappointed by this switch over to
CCD-only manufacture. We had the Fuji reps visit last week and they were
telling a similar story - buy one of their new CCDs because they won't offer
any guarantees on future development of the Celsis.
As for OS X and ColorQuartet: Purup say that it will happen, but I sent an
email to one of the software developers last month and he said that nobody
had asked him to rewrite any code yet...
I hope it does because in my opinion CQ is the easiest scanning software to
learn and has 99 per cent of the controls that were on people's wish lists
in this thread -- including output of images in a bewildering combination of
bit depths, colour spaces and file formats (including direct to PDF).
The Fuji guys made me laugh when they started to describe their modern
workflow methods of scanning profiled RGB masters and separating dependent
on output device -- err, we've been doing that for the last 8 years using
CQ.
