Part a: When selecting out of gamut colors (Select > Color Range > out of

But it doesn9t say which process color profile or gamut is being used. Hey,
did somone invent a universal process color gamut and they didn9t tell me
;-? I would venture a guess that it9s the CMYK working space, but I9d rather
know for sure. <
The gamut warning is for the current CMYK workspace - change the CMYKWS
profile and the gamut warning changes, just as assign profile also has an
effect on the conversion - as well as rendering intent.
This is for the basic gamut warning command when used with WSCMYK from
WSRGB - as in ver4 or earlier.

Part b: if my guess is correct, could this be changed so that it uses the
proofing setup profile/gamut in stead? <
With the newer ICC options -
Gamut warning for CMYK proof set-up is not tied to WS, so no need to
change - it works.
Convert to profile is also independent of WSCMYK for gamut warning.
It also works on some RGB profiles - but the Photoshop generated WS (matrix
monitor profile) profiles don't seem to support this?
Test it yourself - things *seem* 'fairly simple' at face level.

Stephen Marsh.
