There are two ways to use the Spectrolino. First, there is an extension
cable with an 8-pin male mini-DIN connector on one end and an 8-pin
female mini-DIN connector on the other. This cable attaches between the
Spectrolino and the SpectroScan's connector on the moving transport.
With this configuration power is supplied by the SpectroScan.
The other connection method uses an 8-pin male mini-DIN to 8-pin male
mini-DIN connector with a small black box near one connector. An
external power supply attaches to a receptacle on the side of this black
box to power the Spectrolino. If you are using a PC with a 25-pin
D-connector for the serial port GretagMacbeth supplies a silver
converter box that the mini-DIN cable plugs into and it also has the
receptacle for the external power supply.
There is a connection diagram PDF file available on the GretagMacbeth
website at www.gretagmacbeth.com that shows all the methods of
connecting the Spectrolino.
