iBook+Nikon+Epson
iBook+Nikon+Epson
hi!
I'm new on the list as well a novice on matching computer colors...
I hope some of you don't mind to loose some time in giving me some tips...
I am a 1-year-old freelance photographer (mainly pressphoto) and I would
like to get the best of my devices... this inlcudes: ibook mndigo, pshop 6,
nikon D1, nikon coolscan LS40, epson photostylus 890
and I got a long list of questions about all of them...
1.- should I put everything to work under colorsync? in wich case, how
should I configure it -wich profiles for each device-? I know it sounds so
basic but there is no much about it with the OS or in the apple website...
if I set each program to work on their own... wich is the optimal
configuration? I mean wich RGB profile, wich CMYK, grey, dot gain...
2.- wich color space is using the nikon D1? I'm using basically RGB-TIFF and
JPGs (I don't use the raw format as long as I don't have nikon capture)
3.- the same for the scanner LS40...
4.- on printing with the epson... better colorsync or automatic?
5.- what about BruceRGB?
I mainly print on the Epson but for a next proyect probably I will send the
pix to a lab (any suggestion about digital printing proceses?)
I got clear in mind that the ibook screen is not the best on fitting colors
but for the moment it is ok for me to match them good enough: this for me
means that what I see on the screen has aproximately the same dominants as
in the print, the same for contrast and saturation. it happenned to me
seeing something quite ok on the screen and on printing having a ugly yeloww
cast or much more lightness... (maybe I touched too much on color settings
without knowing exactly its consecuencies)
I have already install everything so the system should be quite "clean" and
I will wait for some tips before "contaminating" it... I just want to bring
everything to work a bit consistentely
thanks at least you reach the end of the message ;-)
