Since budget is a concern there are only a few options I know. If there
was an OSX 3000 driver you could simply print with preview
out of Photoshop. I believe it accomplishes the same thing PressReady
did behind the scenes anyway.
But there is no OSX 3000 driver. The other RIPs for proofing are
considerably more expensive then PressReady, nothing else has stepped up
to take it's place to my knowledge.
Don't spend any more, continue to print as you are, but out of classic.
I print through PressReady out of classic every day, works great.
Maybe one day there will be an affordable alternative. I'm told if you
do any AdobePS updates you will have to reinstall PressReady (arduous,
updates and all), but since AdobePS is not on my computer I haven't had
any problems.

I9ve started a graphic design business and am looking into color proofing
options. I used to use an Epson 3000 with Pressready, and I9m looking for a
RIP/Printer combination with cost and performance in the same league as that
setup (a bit faster would be nice). It needs to run work with OS-X as well.
It will be used mainly for pre-proofing print jobs, with some interest in
fine art printing. I did some searching in the list archives but it9s
frustrating to sift through and find any up-to-date info.
Any suggestions? Budget is my primary concern.
