Display profile & non-admin users

I have an iBook running 10.1.5.
I have the display profile set to Color LCD, via the ColorSync preference
pane. My normal user is set up as an admin user. If I change the display
profile it changes for all admin users (and root). However, it does not
seem to change for non-admin users. They seem to have Generic RGB as the
display profile. It's difficult to tell for sure since the preference pane
is unavailable to ordinary users. Colours are different for non-admin users
though in Graphic Converter (and some other programs) and Generic RGB is
what that program reports as the display profile.
Should things be like this? If not why might it be happening? If they are
meant to be like this then how can I ensure that all users of the machine
have the same basic profiles set up? I can't even find the file in which
this info is stored so that I can, if necessary, edit it by hand.
As an aside, what are the default profiles supposed to be in the devices
and documents windows in the preference pane? I've played around with them
so much that I've lost track of what they were originally :-)
