Ther version of ImagePrint that supports postscript is $995 (I'm almost
positive on that). The standard version for $495 is essentially an RGB RIP.
Unlike most other RIP's, you cannot disable the color management in
ImagePrint, simply do profile-to-profile conversions in photoshop and just
ship the file to ImagePrint to output. All color managment (output profiles)
must be done within ImagePrint. The RIP is very easy to profile, but I'd
suggest either using PMP4.1 or Monaco Profiler4.5 to do you own profiles.
Colorbyte has their own profiler and will generate a custom profile for you if
you send them the target that you print, this will offset the cost of buying a
profiler if you have not done so already. Don't get your hopes high that the
canned profiles will be dead on, as usual, the 2200 as a consumer printer
varies quite widely in terms of delta e. They may look great, they may look
crappy. While it may seem easier to do everything in Photoshop, ImagePrint has
its own built-in color engine which which works extremely well. As a side note
be prepared to pay out the ying-yang for inks, if you are the least bit
serious about volume printing get yourself a 7600, the 2200 is not an
inexpensive machine to run and you will need a pit crew to change inks in this
thing if used with any volume.
