Perhaps. Interesting concept.
If you look at the vast majority of 2200 users, they could care less about
ImagePrint. Anything coming out of the Epson driver they think is fantastic,
(which to some degree it is) and would rather be able to cut their nice roll
paper into print sizes (which is kind of cool).
Many U.S. Buyers were upset they didn't get the software (was there hardware
too?) to print onto CD's using the 2200. Those in Europe got it included (as
well as the software from Hell called Gray Balancer or Funa). You can't win
with a customer base this large and varied.
Anyone that wants to print really lovely, dead nuts neutral prints on an
Epson would need something like IP. Yet of the X000 or so 2200's alone sold
in the US the first month that's a tiny number of users I suspect. That may
be enough sales to get the price down to something like $199.
