A couple of weeks ago I received in the mail my first attempt
at a Lightjet 5000 print. It was too dark and saturated ( compared
to my monitor ).
I'm using a Mac G4 and an Apple 17" LCD. I've calibrated the display with
OptiCal. I've followed the instructions on ICC profiles and color spaces and
know the very basics such as not using the monitor profile as the working space
and to use a working space that closely matches the intended output (Adobe
RGB 1998 / Lightjet 500). I'm also converting it to the custom Lightjet profile
provided by the lab.
I'm wondering if the problem is related to my my LCD monitor or possibly the
viewing environment in which I'm using Photoshop. I've got two 22"
D50 fluorescent
bulbs in my computer room (a little primitive). They aren't very bright and I'm
wondering if my print looks to dark because my monitor is brighter
than the room lights.
Although I'm not sure why that would change the saturation much.
Maybe it's more
saturated BECAUSE its too dark. You can probably tell I'm not
even sure where to
begin.
P.S. Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, with the Formac
1740 17" LCD.
I'm wondering if it is better suited for color work than my Apple
17" LCD. I noticed
when reading about it that it has a higher contrast ratio. OptiCal
has software specifically
for this display.
